Alex Sims (Chair): A graduate from Oregon State University, Alex currently works at OSU as Director of Accounts Payable. He and his wife Aimee have settled down in Albany, where they are raising their daughter Norah and son Jacob. Alex is passionate about providing opportunities for community groups to improve the park system in ways that are meaningful for them. Alex is currently serving as chair of the Albany Parks & Recreation Foundation.
Ann Ketter (Vice Chair): When Ann Ketter moved to Oregon in 1999 to attend graduate school, she and her family chose Albany as hometown for its vibrancy and livability. She has served on Albany advisory boards for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission as well as the Planning Commission. She works for the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Her interest in serving on Albany Parks & Recreation Foundation is to help the community continue to grow in ways that benefit all citizens.
Megan Garnier (Secretary): Executive Assistant to the President/CEO and Board of Central Willamette Credit Union. Megan recently moved back to Oregon from California after her husband got a teaching job at West Albany High School. She grew up participating in many programs and sports offered by Corvallis Parks & Recreation, and she is excited to contribute to the flourishing of programs and parks in Albany, where she and her husband are now raising their daughter.
Ed Hodney (Former Chair): Founder and past chair of the APRF board. Former Albany Parks & Recreation director (ret. 2019). In an era of budget shortages and service reductions, the Foundation can play a significant role in helping the Parks & Recreation Department meet the needs of Albany’s residents.
Audrey Meier DeKam: Editor of the locally produced MOM Magazine, Audrey is committed to maintaining and strengthening Albany’s Parks & Recreation as they are a backbone of a healthy community. She has worked with numerous local businesses and nonprofits, and currently lives in Albany with her husband, two sons and constantly shedding golden retriever.
Linnea Everts: Linnea was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden where she spent as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors. After relocating to Oregon to attend college, then nearly decade in San Francisco, she relocated to Albany with her husband, Judd. The Everts family are proud owners of a historic home in Albany and can be found enjoying local parks with their son Nik and two dogs, Casper and Alfons. During working hours, Linnea works in advocacy at the Linn-Benton Community College Foundation.
Past Board Members
Ryan Hansen: An Oregonian through and through, Ryan was born and raised in Albany. He and his wife and both graduated from West Albany High School and Oregon State University. Now they have the pleasure of raising our two children in the same community.
(Past board member) Yohn Baldwin: A local business owner for over 25 years, Yohn raised three kids in Albany community and is passionate about helping to ensure we maintain a thriving Parks and Recreation system for future generations to come.
(Past board member) Stacie Wyss-Schoenborn: Stacie passionately support Albany’s Parks & Recreation endeavors as she believes having outdoor spaces, a robust program of activities and premier community events enhances Albany’s livability and economic vitality.
(Past board member) Bill Scheler: Bill was born and raised on a farm east of Albany. Bill started farming along with his father when he graduated from West Albany. Bill (second generation) and his son (third generation) are currently farming together. Along with his son, Bill has a daughter who lives in the Portland area but also returns often to help on the farm. Bill is an active member of the East Albany Lions club as well as he has been a member of the Albany Parks and Recreation Foundation Board.
